Disgusting identity crisis ghetto style Impreza L wagon... OK, the whole rice thing has been debated into the ground. Respect the tastes of others and all that jazz. This was not rice. This was simply an insult to the Subaru name. If I had my digital camera with me, the resulting image would have been sent to beaterz.com instead of riceboypage.com. On Saturday, Trunkmonkey Racing took a field trip to Wal*Mart to find cheap tanktops for the Trunkmonkey Pit Crew transfers we had made for the wives. They wanted to cheer us on with cleavage blazing, so we wanted to make some shirts. Well, on the way out, Chip and I caught a glimpse of an older green Impreza wagon with racing stripes, a huge SUBARU windshield banner, front bra and what appeared to be shaved doors with funky aqua vinyl splatters going up the side.As I got closer, my initial curiosity turned to disgust as I realized what a hideous monster this car actually was. What I initially thought was vinyl was actually scrapes going the entire length of the door that had been touched up with aqua nail polish. Yes, touched up with aqua on green paint.From 50 away, it looked neat. And the shaved look turned out to simply be the rubber protective bumpers being torn off the door. And, once on top of the car, I saw that the paint was extremely dirty and looked like it hadnt been washed/waxed in months/years. Not muddy, but it had that faded grimy look to it.And then the glare from the plastic Pep Boys fake chrome parts started blinding me. Chrome windshield wipers. Chrome this. Chrome that. Ick. It appeared that Pep Boys stock had gained a few points thanks to this guy. Complete with the fake leather bra and (I assume) fake sheepskin seatcovers. To add to the amusement, the Impreza had crusty bits embedded all around the slushbox with a dirty interior. Erg.So I look around back...to accent the steel wheels with scraped hubcaps was a bumblebee fart generic muffler with faded chrome tip. So what tops it off? The fact that it was a bone stock Impreza L wagon (except for the muffler) and the racing stripes that had been put on the dirty paint...[b]went over the dealer badge![/b]Thats right! They didnt even peel off the dealer badge before putting on the stripes. You can see the outline of the badge [b]under[/b] the stripes and half the badge still sticks out!Argh! OK, a wagon with racing stripes looks good. A well-groomed slushbox wagon with no crusties around the shift gate looks good. Look at Kevin Thomas car. It looks sweet. Nice and shiny. Nice wheels. It looks slick. [Edit - to appease NickSTis paranoia about my alleged attack against automatics] But this car was just grimy with poorly attached accessories. If washed and waxed with the dealer badge removed, I would have thought the racing stripes looked cool. If properly touched up with the same color paint, even if the scrapes were still visible, I would have thought it was an acceptable quick fix. But nail polish?!?!Heck, I have a windshield banner, but its on straight! Each letter in SUBARU on this beast was crooked.Guh. Im ranting. Ill stop now. Blah.
